FAQ for smarteye
failed to get/open live video
The new created smarteye server allows devices to log in to the online web platform, but fails to open the video
This is the most typical problem,
90% of the problems come from: the 9703/UDP port on the server side is not open, such as Alibaba Cloud's security group policy, or the server is behind the router, and the port mapping on the router is only TCP, without paying attention to the UDP port;
If you repeatedly confirm that it is not the problem mentioned above, then check if the server has multiple network cards. If so, you need to bind the IP of the specified network card in the operation management center.
The law enforcement recorder continues to generate heat
Possible areas that need to be checked include: 1) whether the infrared lights have been on all the time, that is, whether the infrared night vision has been manually turned on. The infrared LED lights are very power consuming and cause heating; After turning on the infrared, the image can be seen in black and white on the MCP/MPU video direct interface; 2) You can't use a charger while charging, as it generates a lot of heat, just like a mobile phone; 3) Whether the backend has enabled video recording plans, download plans, etc., these are high cost operations that the frontend may not feel, but they can lead to high-intensity and high load work of law enforcement recorders, which can cause continuous heating;
In addition, due to the supervision of users/workers by intelligent safety helmets/law enforcement recorders, an awkward situation in their use is that leaders like to monitor the work situation of their subordinates in real time, but the workers below are very resistant. They often try to do some damage, such as using a small hammer with a towel to press the power button into the groove, causing it to fail to turn on. They will say that this is a hardware failure of the equipment and need to be returned to the factory for repair; Or there may be various fabricated excuses, claiming that it is all due to equipment issues, in short, that the equipment has problems and cannot be used, in order to evade supervision.
Using the company's WIFI for internet access is unreliable
When devices such as law enforcement recorders and smart safety helmets are launched on the smarteye server platform on the public network, it feels like the network is unstable, often disconnected, or login failures occur. In this case, the device side must use a SIM card to access the 4G internet or WIFI to connect to the mobile hotspot, and use the 4G/5G network of the mobile phone to access the internet, because only using the 4G/5G network is the most reliable network without any external influence. However, if you use WIFI to access the network exit of the unit, it is difficult to clarify the network, especially for large units. The internal network of the large unit has multiple layers, and there are many port restrictions on the exit router. For example, using an internal browser on the law enforcement recorder can access the Baidu website. But that doesn't mean the internet is okay, Because opening a webpage only indicates that the unit's router has no restrictions on the 80/TCP port, while logging into the smarteye server uses special ports 9701/TCP or 9702/UDP. These special ports are likely to be blocked by the unit's router/firewall, and the general technical personnel inside the unit are completely unaware of these settings. So, in this unknown network environment, only using 4G/5G networks is the purest and most reliable way to eliminate network problems.
Diagnosis of video image transmission lag problem
There are many possible reasons for video real-time image transmission lag. Here are some examples:
1) The server bandwidth is insufficient. You can use the WEB platform - backend management - status - channel to see the current list and statistics of all video channels and bitrate traffic, and then see how much bandwidth the server is consuming. Then, you can check the size of your server's public network bandwidth to determine if there is a problem with insufficient server bandwidth.
2) Is the 4G network signal of the device good? If the signal is poor, please move the device to a different location, such as taking it out of the office and testing it outdoors for comparison; Attention: Do not use the unit's WIFI. The unit's network cannot be explained clearly. Please refer to the explanation below for specific reasons;
3) Whether the network bandwidth of the client computer is sufficient or not, don't think that the network bandwidth of the computer is large enough. Many small companies' networks are in a mess, with network storms and intranet viruses being common. It is difficult to guarantee 1-2 Mbps of network bandwidth that a personal computer can enjoy alone. 100MB of broadband is shared by dozens of people, and as long as one person opens Thunder to download a movie, 95% of the bandwidth will be eaten up by him alone. Other people's computers cannot even guarantee 1Mbps. If your device is transmitting 720P video images, the client computer must guarantee at least 2Mbps of bandwidth exclusively. This is not easy to guarantee, at least not stable guarantee, for the personal computer network of small companies. So the network of monitoring computers in the command center is exclusive, dedicated to the private network, and cannot be shared with others; If the device video image transmission is set to 1080P, the video bitrate of one device will be 4-6Mbps, and 90% of small companies' computer networks cannot watch in real time. The computer bandwidth cannot guarantee exclusive access to such a high network bandwidth. Note that it must be exclusive, sharing is useless and unreliable. That is to say, if someone is not watching a movie at this moment, you may be careless when watching real-time videos, but once someone starts downloading from Thunder, your videos will immediately freeze; So, if you really want to pay attention to/pursue the real-time effect of video image transmission, you must 100% guarantee that the exclusive network bandwidth of the computer you use for watching can match the video bitrate of the device; In fact, if you really want to focus on the image transmission effect and eliminate the influence of the unit network, the simplest way is to turn on 4G/5G on your phone (cannot use WIFI), use the MCP on your phone to turn on the video of this device, and see if it is lagging. This is the best reference for comparison, because the 4G/5G on your phone is a 100% exclusive network and will not be lower than 4Mbps; This allows for a good comparison with computer clients to see if there is a problem with insufficient network bandwidth on the computer;
4) Reduce the video encoding resolution of the device, typically by not using 1080P, especially without H.265, for Android devices H.264@1080P It is very scary, usually exceeding 4Mbps, which is basically the limit of domestic 4G SIM card upload bandwidth, making it difficult to transfer processes and real-time; Please note that the bitrate of Android cameras cannot compare to that of Hikvision and other professional surveillance cameras and video surveillance chips, H.264@720P That's only 200kbps, and the bitrate of Android cameras is basically 10 times that of Hikvision embedded cameras, usually 1.5-2Mbps. This bitrate is actually very scary on the public network. Ordinary networks cannot transmit smoothly and cannot guarantee real-time performance; In general, if the real-time performance is poor, it is recommended to use 480P;
Regarding 5G/4G data tariffs
5G/4G image transmission devices, including various forms of 5G/4G law enforcement recorders, smart helmets, helmet cameras, control balls, 4G DVR/NVR, do not actively push videos to the background to consume data. Their working mode is manual streaming and on-demand mode in the background, that is, when the 5G/4G image transmission device goes to the streaming media server smarteye SERVER, it only registers with SIP to achieve online list, and then maintains the heartbeat packet connection. When the device is turned on and online, it does not consume 4G/5G data and actively pushes video streams to the backend platform. Only when the user opens the client software (web browser) and actively requests the device's video (i.e. passive on-demand) will data transmission of audio and video streams occur. So, the consumption of 5G/4G tariffs depends entirely on the users, and the end users who use such 4G/5G mobile image transmission devices in China are basically state-owned enterprises, central enterprises, government law enforcement units, all serving leaders. Only when leaders come to inspect and examine, will they open the TV wall to retrieve real-time video images of on-site operators. Only then will data flow occur, and leaders come to inspect or practice exercises only a few times a year, with each session lasting only a few minutes. This type of data flow consumption is extremely low and cannot be calculated based on 1GB of data flow per hour. For example, in emergency drills, if used twice a year for 30 minutes each time, the annual data usage fee can be controlled at 10 RMB.
Regarding the issue of positioning
A customer asked, 'My 4G law enforcement recorder is in my office in Shenzhen, but the location display is still in Guangzhou where I was the day before yesterday. What's going on?'?
Answer: The positioning mechanism of our 4G/5G law enforcement recorder and smart safety helmet is as follows. If the device is not located at the current time, the last successful location will be displayed on the map. This is the reason why the law enforcement recorder is currently located in the office in Shenzhen, and GPS/BD satellites cannot be found indoors, and the base station positioning is not enabled by default, resulting in the device being completely unable to locate. Therefore, the software system will default to displaying the last successful location.
Regarding the issue of damaged MP4 video files
Because the format and video parameters of MP4 files are written at the end of the file. In some cases, if the device does not end the recording properly, the video parameters are not written to the file. The video player cannot obtain the video parameters and cannot parse the video, so the video is damaged. Sudden power failure, crash, or adb command overwrite installation in the recording may cause this situation.
Regarding UA and authentication in MCP
UA is currently hidden and appears 7 times in the login interface. By default, it is selected. This way, the Android device will appear as a CAMERA in the platform's device list. However, if UA is not checked when logging in, MCP will be a mobile client that can only view images and positioning of other devices, participate in intercom, but cannot appear as CAEMRA in the device list.
The MCP core has two functions, one is encoding+streaming, which makes it a CAMERA; In addition, it is the function of stream extraction and decoding, which is the mobile client function. Without UA, authentication is not required. Authentication is only required when doing UA.
When playing back and retrieving video files for downloading on web platforms, HTTP is generally used instead of HTTPS, because if HTTPS is used to download files, the browser will verify the legitimacy of the SSL certificate of the web server, otherwise the download will not be allowed. For general smarteye WEB access, it is recommended to use 9781/TCP and HTTPS access in order to effectively access the local MIC and communicate with the device.
What are the useful data of Smarteye Server?
In fact, there is no really useful data on the smarteye server, and device information appears automatically. As long as the device side fills in the correct server IP, port, and account, it will automatically appear in the device list. Even if you reinstall the server, overwrite the database, or delete the device from the background, it will be automatically added to the database when it goes online again.
If useful information must be mentioned, it is the grouping information of user accounts, user groups, and device groups manually created by customers. Once the server is reinstalled and the original database is overwritten, these accounts and groups will be lost.
Player for recording files
Due to our audio compression format being G.711a instead of commonly used MP3/AAC, general players are unable to play our video files. Typically, videos can be played but there is no sound, so a dedicated player is needed. We recommend using Potplayer, official website address: http://potplayer.tv/ You can directly download the player from the official website. For current WINDOWS systems, they are mostly 64 bit, so it is generally necessary to download the 64 bit version.
